After an unsettled period the staff team at River Cottage appear to be back delivering good outcomes and the compliments are flowing in!
First a girl placed comments about the staff team:
“When I first came to River I didn’t trust no men. Now I know they aint all bad people. I might have been horrible to you but thanks for always being there for me!”
Than a placing Social Worker commented on the service at River Cottage for her LAC:
“I have been A’s social worker whilst she has resided at River Cottage. I am writing to commend Pete Gale and his staff team for the outstanding work done with A. When she arrived at River Cottage, she was an extremely disorientated and mixed up little girl. Through the help, support and dedication of the staff team A has become settled, gained a “sense of belonging” and is more able to express herself – linking her unwanted behaviours to her feelings.
Initially A had a bad start – absconding for a period of days, causing worry and anguish to both myself as her worker and the staff team. Recordings of Missing People were very clear and detailed – with a robust and proactive approach in seeking to locate AM (and another girl).
Thanks for being accommodating to all of my requests for A, and also for accommodating A’s requests. She has built a great working rapport, and trust with yourself, coupled with other team members.
I have enjoyed working with you all, and appreciate the positive communication we have developed and maintained for A. Discussions have been of quality and purposeful and have developed A as a young person, bringing positive change to her time with you to date.
Once again, thanks to all of you – I wish you all well, and can only hope that other childrens homes around the country can provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment in order that the resident young people can achieve some positive outcomes whilst in residential care.”
