The exceptional support provided by one of Accomplish’s Bedfordshire services has been officially recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which has rated the care home Outstanding following a recent inspection.
Pathway House, a residential care home in Wyboston that supports people with autism and learning disabilities, has been praised for making a hugely positive impact on the lives of the people it supports – with inspectors describing the difference the service makes as “extraordinary.”
The CQC highlighted that people living at Pathway House experience extremely good outcomes thanks to the care and dedication of the team, who were described as “incredibly kind, caring and supportive.” Staff were found to be committed to enabling people to “live the way they wanted to,” with inspectors stating that the service helped individuals “have the best experiences of support they could have.”
Inspectors were particularly impressed by the innovative approaches the team takes to support people to live healthy, independent lives. People were found to be in full control of their care and empowered to achieve the goals most important to them.
The report noted:
“People were happy living at the service. Staff supported people to have a full and active life in line with their preferences and choices about how they liked to spend their time. As a result of the support people had, they experienced very positive outcomes.”
One person supported at Pathway House told inspectors:
“I am happy here. They treat me like a true gentleman.”
A relative also shared the transformative effect the service had on their loved one:
“The service has gone from strength to strength. My family member is out and about all the time and the difference in their mental health has been incredible.”
The report also highlighted drastic improvements in people’s physical and mental health across the board, with every person being supported to become healthier in all areas of their lives.
