Meet Laura
Operations Manager - Peak

Laura joined Peak Activities in 2020 on a zero-hour contract and has progressed to Operations Manager in less than 3 years! Find out more about her journey with Peak below.

How has Keys Group supported your professional development?
When I joined Peak, I had a lot of experience in a variety of outdoor activities, but my Scouts qualifications had expired. Firstly, I re-did my first aid instructor course in line with Peak, following that I’ve gained loads of different qualifications: from Paddle sport instructor and powerboat Level 2 to more administrative in-house training, now I’m working towards my Paddlesport coach certificate and the Level 5 Apprenticeship scheme. I also led the setup of our Outdoor Instructor Apprenticeship scheme which is now in its 3rd year running!

What are your main responsibilities as Operations Manager?
My role involves a lot of different things, and can vary depending on our current bookings, business strategy or even just the weather that day. I’ll support centre managers and instructors with their development, work on policies, procedures and training programmes for our staff to become instructors, quality assurance at each centre as well as making sure we hit financial and recruitment targets. I do all this across 6 different Activity Centres, so as you can imagine, my role also involves a lot of driving too!
