Areas we serve
Across Gloucestershire
Rural, sole-occupancy homes in the English countryside give distance from harmful networks, regulated by CQC.
For children’s safety we describe the areas we support rather than naming individual homes or addresses. We also accept referrals from beyond Gloucestershire.

Common questions
Concise, evidenced answers to the questions professionals ask most about our Gloucestershire provision.
Who is the Activity & Intervention service suitable for?
Our Gloucestershire Activity & Intervention service supports children and young people who are experiencing a placement crisis or who require a highly structured, therapeutic environment. This may include those at risk of child criminal exploitation (CCE), child sexual exploitation (CSE), going missing from care, offending behaviour, substance misuse, or placement breakdown.
How long do young people stay?
Our core programme is designed as a 90-day intervention. During this time, we work intensively with each young person to improve emotional wellbeing, develop coping strategies, reduce risk-taking behaviours and prepare them for their next placement.
What makes this service different from a traditional children's home?
Unlike a traditional residential children's home, our Activity & Intervention service combines therapeutic care with structured outdoor activities. Adventure-based experiences such as climbing, canoeing and mountain biking are used alongside relationship-based care to help young people build resilience, confidence and trust.
What activities do young people take part in?
Each programme is tailored to the individual, but activities may include:
Mountain biking
Canoeing
Climbing
Hiking and walking
Farm visits
Team-building activities
Life skills sessions
Activities are chosen to support personal development rather than simply provide recreation.
Is the service safe?
Yes. Safety is our highest priority. Our service operates with 2:1 staffing and is licensed by the Adventurous Activities Licensing Service (AALS). All activities are carefully risk assessed and led by experienced staff with appropriate qualifications.
How quickly can a placement be arranged?
We understand that many referrals are made during times of crisis. Our referrals team aims to respond quickly and will work closely with local authorities to assess suitability and arrange placements as efficiently as possible.
Do you support young people at risk of child criminal exploitation (CCE)?
Yes. We have a dedicated Child Criminal Exploitation programme designed specifically for young people who have experienced grooming, county lines activity or other forms of exploitation. Our approach recognises the impact of trauma and focuses on helping young people build safer relationships and make positive choices.
Can you support young people transitioning from secure settings?
Yes. Our Step Toward Programme is designed for young people moving on from secure environments or highly restrictive placements. It provides a gradual transition into community living while maintaining the structure and support they need.
What outcomes do you aim to achieve?
Every programme is personalised, but common outcomes include:
Increased self-esteem and confidence
Improved emotional regulation
Reduced risk-taking behaviours
Better engagement with education or training
Stronger relationships with trusted adults
Greater independence and resilience
Successful transition into longer-term placements
Do young people continue their education during their placement?
Where appropriate, we work with education providers, virtual schools and local authorities to ensure educational needs continue to be met throughout the placement, alongside the intervention programme.
How do you work with local authorities?
We work in partnership with social workers, commissioning teams, independent reviewing officers (IROs) and other professionals throughout the placement. Regular communication, progress updates and reviews ensure everyone remains informed and involved in planning the young person's next steps.
How do I make a referral?
Referrals can be made by contacting our dedicated referrals team. We'll discuss the young person's needs, answer any questions and advise whether our Gloucestershire Activity & Intervention service is the right fit.
