Keys Engage
Keys Engage is a trauma-informed, in-person learning programme for children and young people who cannot yet sustain engagement in education, including those with emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), repeated placement breakdowns or complex trauma. It prioritises emotional safety, trust and connection before any academic focus.
The programme is highly personalised and built on attachment and psychosocial development theory, with therapeutic support embedded throughout. Learners can gain AQA-accredited Unit Awards as confidence and engagement return.

Common questions
Concise, evidenced answers to the questions professionals ask most about our Keys Engage provision.
Who is Keys Engage for?
Keys Engage is for children and young people who cannot yet sustain engagement in education, including those with emotionally based school avoidance, complex trauma or repeated placement breakdowns. It is the earliest, stabilising step before more formal learning resumes.
Does Keys Engage lead to qualifications?
Yes. Learners can achieve AQA-accredited Unit Awards as their confidence and engagement grow, alongside the wider goal of rebuilding readiness for education.
What happens after Keys Engage?
Learners move on when they are ready, whether that is reintegration into school, specialist provision, training or employment. The programme builds the emotional stability and trust that make a successful transition possible.
